We have been welcoming families, groups and explorers of all ages to Nettlecombe Farm for over forty years. We work hard to make sure our guests have an unforgettable experience on our working farm and in the surrounding areas – which is why so many families return to us every year for their rural escape.

Our working farm
Nettlecombe Farm has been in our family for over a century, and you'll still meet us around the farm today. Now an award-winning farm-stay, we are situated in the heart of the rolling Isle of Wight countryside, at the top of a quiet lane half a mile from the sleepy village of Whitwell.

Join the farmer feeding the animals
As a resident of Nettlecombe Farm, we invite you to explore the farm and meet the animals on your own, or join us on a farm feeding tour. There is a wide variety of animals to make friends with from the traditional sheep, goats, pigs, geese and chickens, to the more unexpected: giant rabbits, donkeys, a pony, two alpacas, reindeer and even an emu!

Our animals are so used to meeting our guests every day that you’ll be surprised how friendly some of them are. Some of our lambs are hand-reared and fed by the team and our guests during the spring and are so used to people that they like nothing better than a lovely cuddle.

Immerse yourself in our Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
Surrounded by green fields and lakes and well positioned for the evening sun, our luxurious self-catering holiday accommodation is safe and comfortable for visitors of all ages and abilities. Nettlecombe Farm is also the perfect base from which to explore the trails around our Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, meet our friendly animals – and your gateway to the Island’s wider countryside, coastline and attractions. We are also proud to be part of the Island's biosphere - one of only seven in the UK celebrating the preservation of unique and diverse ecosystems.

Dog, child and fisherman friendly!
When the children need to let off steam there are many grassed play areas, toddlers play equipment, a big Wendy house, our fabulous wooden tractor and a rustic climbing play facility. For the older children there is a sports area ideal for all sorts of games and football. Our three fully-stocked fishing lakes, and of course the farm and nearby countryside, are full of places to explore, walk with your dog and cycle. You might also be tempted to enjoy some relaxing Yoga or Pilates at one of our sessions in the converted barn.

Your base in the heart of the Isle of Wight
Our stunning rural setting is quiet and secluded, but it's easy to use the farm as a base to explore the beautiful island that is our home. Explore Queen Victoria's country retreat at Osborne House, see where King Charles I was imprisoned at Carisbrooke Castle, or just marvel at the spectacular Needles. Beaches are especially easy to reach from Nettlecombe Farm, from the dramatic shoreline at Compton to the miles of golden sands and seaside amusements at Sandown and Shanklin.

We think you will love this part of the Isle of Wight as much as we do. The passing of the seasons and the changing landscape make Nettlecombe Farm worth visiting at any time of the year.

We look forward to welcoming you to Nettlecombe Farm.
