We welcome schools and groups (children and adults) to Nettlecombe Farm for rural educational visits through the Natural England HLS programme.
Nettlecombe Farm as an Educational Resource
Taking part in a farm visit provides a great opportunity for children to experience life on a farm, learn about wildlife, where their food comes from and how the land is managed. This kind of learning in the natural environment contributes to the environmental education requirements, as laid out in the current national curriculum, whilst delivering on the Global Goal of Education for Sustainable Development.
We have been hosting school groups at Nettlecombe Farm informally for many years. Thanks to the Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) agreements, we have been able to open the gates of the farm to more schools to use as an educational resource - hosting around 25 groups every year.
It’s great to be able to show visitors around the farm and to help them experience the connection between themselves, their food and the countryside.
