We were delighted to welcome four Valais Black nose sheep to Nettlecombe farm who arrived in late July.

Acknowledged widely as the cutest sheep breed in existence, Valais Blacknose sheep are famous for their shaggy coats and spiral horns. Globally, Valais Blacknose sheep have been endangered through nature and human activity over the years. The first of the breed arrived in the UK back in 2014 and there are now only a few hundred living in the UK, so they really are still quite a rareity to come across in th UK, making us feel extra lucky to have our own flock here at Nettlecombe Farm.

Isaac, Isadora, Isambard & Indigo were born on the island in March this year so are still only young but have settled in beautifully to their new home.

Isaac and Isambard will be pets for the farm and we do hope that Indigo & Isadora will have babies in the future to expand their flock.

They each have their own personalities and are a big hit with the guests and staff alike. In particular Isaac, who has been labelled our 'resident - attention seeking - escape artist' ....the first to run up for attention and then also the first to try and escape at every mealtime! He's certainly keeping the animal keepers on their toes.

Last week, they had their first haircuts and look very smart, although we do miss their curly locks and are hoping they don't take too long to grow back.

Aside from a visit to the hairdressers they are also learning to walk on a lead wearing a collar alongside the animal keepers to familiarise themselves with the farm and the other animals here at Nettlecombe Farm... it also increases their step count.

Isaac, Isadora, Isambard & Indigo look forward to seeing you soon & reward all guests with cuddles if you feed them.
