It's International Women's day on the 8th of March and here on the farm we're delighted to tell you that over 80% of our staff are female and we have just taken on a new apprentice Tallulah.
We're passionate about girl power and when we decided to take on a new apprentice we looked no further than Tallulah who has been with us for a couple of years doing farm tours. She's now embarked on a Keeper and Aquarist apprenticeship with us and will be responsible for the everyday care and husbandry of the animals within the collection.
And of course there are all of our other female staff from the girls in the office to the girls on the farm to those looking after our holiday accommodation and we'd like to give them all a big thank you in what has been a very exacting year for all of us.
And of course, whilst she's not a 'woman' per say, we'd like to wish Edna the emu a happy Women's Day. Our female animals are an integral part of the farm not just for giving pleasure to our visiting guests but for keeping the future generations going.
This year's call to action is #ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021 A challenged world is an alert world and from challenge comes change. So let's all choose to challenge.
