Wonderful Walking Loops from the Farm

 loading='lazy'

Walking and running are brilliant not just for your physical health but also for your mental wellbeing, and with both of those in mind we’ve devised some wonderful circular routes from Nettlecombe Farm at the very heart of the Isle of Wight, with countryside, coastal and woodland views all within easy reach. The perfect way to unwind and recharge.

If you’re hooked up to the Strava app then you’ll be able to follow our electronically mapped routes and give yourself a workout or just a stroll to suit yourself. All of our suggested routes are dog friendly and suitable for cyclists and with six routes available which range from 1.3 to 7 miles you can set out after lunch or breakfast and be back for morning coffee or a sundowner. If you fancy a whole day out, then you can walk to your chosen destination and get the bus back – we’ll give you a free bus pass as part of our commitment to sustainable travel.

As a family run farm for over a hundred years, some of the places on our suggested route maps hold special memories for us and we hope that you’ll take some of these memories home with you too and come back and see us again to relive them. If you tag us on your Strava app then you’ll be able to show others your walking and running routes as well as being able to see what others have been getting up to. Of course, we urge you to follow the Countryside Code and: leave gates and property as you find them and follow marked paths, keep dogs under effective control and clean up after them, plan ahead and be prepared, follow advice and local signs and leave only footprints and take only memories.

And of course, a holiday ramble wouldn’t be complete without a visit to a pub or café for a little en route refreshment and we’ve included some of our favourites on our walking guide. From the cafes at Ventnor Botanic Garden and Steephill Cove to the pubs at Whitwell and Niton, you can make an occasion of even the shortest walk as you explore the beautiful Isle of Wight. And do make sure you tag us in your adventures so that we can share your Island loves and discoveries with our other guests and friends.
