Sustainable Travel at Nettlecombe Farm

 loading='lazy'

Travel is very much at the forefront of the Isle of Wight’s sustainability drive and the ‘Drive Less See More’ campaign is one that we at Nettlecombe Farm wholeheartedly support.

So much so, that we have reinforced green transport initiatives and we include free transport to and from Shanklin Station if you decide not to bring your car, and free bus travel so that you can see the Island in all its glory without spending a penny and we are working hard to encourage people to come and stay without cars.

Having said that, electric cars are now becoming far more familiar than in the past and with that in mind, we provide free electricity and free charging points(*) to all of our visitors with electric cars. And we also urge you to bring your bike and take advantage of the 200 miles of cycle tracks, byways, and bridleways that the Island boasts, covering Downs, forest, field, and coast. If you’re a beginner or a more experienced cyclist, there are routes to suit all.

These are not our only sustainable credentials but some of which enabled us to win the Green Gold Star Award at Visit Isle of Wight’s Green Tourism Awards in 2019 which we were proud to receive. Year on year we make changes and improvements to the farm and its facilities as we know that sustainability and growth is not possible by just standing still, and we also invest heavily in maintenance and improvements. We will continue to do that in 2021 to further our contribution to present and future sustainability and make our guest’s stays as eco- friendly as possible.

(*) From November 2022 EV car charging will be subject to a contribution towards our rapidly inreasing electric bills
