Dog Friendly Holidays

We love our furry friends here on the farm and we’re always delighted when you bring your canine family with you to visit us.

Nettlecombe Farm is perfectly equipped to welcome dogs and with nine award winning dog friendly self-catering cottages you’ll really be spoiled for choice as we can accommodate parties from three to ten people and their canine friends. We do of course, ask that you abide by the countryside code and clean up after your pet and keep them under effective control around wildlife and livestock, but we do believe that Fido will find himself in doggy paradise here on the Isle of Wight.

All of the Island’s beaches are dog friendly during the winter months and there’s plenty of room for them to run especially at Ryde and Yaverland when the tide is out and there’s digging to be done and rocks to explore at Compton Bay. During the summer months there are restrictions on some of the resort beaches like Ventnor, Sandown and Shanklin and you can find more information about that on the Isle of Wight Council website.

Dogs love walks and with more than 500 miles of footpaths which criss cross the Island, Fido will think he’s in doggy heaven! From clifftop walks to woodland rambles, muddy forest stomps to spectacular views from the Downs and beach scampers, there is a walk for every dog’s taste, age and ability. There are also pubs, restaurants and cafes across the Isle of Wight which are fully dog friendly and will provide water and even treats in some cases and you can find some of these at www.doggiepubs.org.uk.

Getting to the Island with Fido is easy too as they travel free on all car ferry routes as well as the catamaran to Ryde, the Red Jet to Cowes and on Hovertravel. They also travel free on buses and trains on the Island (as long as they’re well behaved), so if you’re planning a long walk and don’t want to take your car, then our excellent public transport is the answer and you’ll be contributing to the Isle of Wight’s ‘Drive Less, See More’ campaign. We can also provide great circular walking and running routes from the farm which cover distances from 1.3 to 7 miles which are ideal if you don’t want to walk too far from base so have a look at our handy guide and plan your route! Whatever you decide to do you can be assured that Fido will be amply provided for…
